We are seeking a highly motivated and team oriented individual to join the Wastewater Division.
Reporting to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor/ Wastewater Collections Supervisor, this position will be part of the team responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of the state of the art Class IV Water Pollution Control Plant and Class III Wastewater Collection System.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the Class IV WPCP within the regulations specified in the Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA), under the direction of the Plant Supervisor.
- Operate and maintain the Class III Wastewater Collection System and pumping stations by use of Towns Vactor truck for sewer flushing, minor mainline and lateral repairs and CCTV Camera inspection of sewers.
- Perform daily lab tests and microscopic analysis.
- Responsible for plant operations, maintenance, inspection and repair of the Town’s Wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations and sanitary sewer system.
- Interact with customers, developers, contractors, and others.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- MOE Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection OIT license (or above)
- Preference will be given to candidates with a diploma/degree Environmental Technology.
- Commitment to obtaining higher Wastewater licenses within a specific timeframe as an ongoing condition of employment.
- Knowledge and experience in similar Wastewater Operations, Vactor truck operations, CCTV Sewer Camera inspection, computers, SCADA/PLC’s and computerized maintenance management systems(CMMS) is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with all levels of staff, developers, contractors and the general public.
- Candidates must be able to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, contractors and the general public.
- Availability to work after hours for emergencies and participate in the on-call rotation.
- Valid class “G” driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to complete a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check upon hire.
The Town offers an hourly wage rate of $27.19 (OIT operator) to $48.61 (Class 4 Operator) based on 2025 rates. The hourly rate commensurate with achieved level of certification plus a competitive benefit package, and an opportunity to grow with us.
