Overview of OTJ Session #4:
Servicing homes and businesses with potable water seems like a quick run from the watermain with a couple isolation valves, but there is much more to it than that! Learn about the products used and the evolution of materials necessary to deliver drinking water to the customer. We will flow through products used, connections available and proper installation instructions to ensure a fit and seal for years to come.
At the completion of this one-hour OJT session, participants will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Anatomy of a service lateral
- Manufacturing practices involved in producing waterworks brass & service saddles
- Difference between waterworks brass and plumbing brass
- Common connection types
- Proper installation tactics for service valves & fittings, saddles and repair clamps
- New and innovative products available
