Overview:
Fire Hydrants have been around for over 150 years…. What if you were able to get real time data from one and learn what it has to say from several hundred times a second for Transient Pressure, to just several times per day for regular pressure monitoring. Hydrants have become Smart with built in Pressure Monitoring and Leak Detection. The data from the Fire Hydrant can be used to understand what is going on in the distribution network and allow you make distribution decisions.
At the completion of this one-hour OJT session, participants will be able to demonstrate the following:
•How a hydrant works in a freezing climate
•Understanding the mechanics of a Dry Barrel Fire Hydrant
•How to install one with the new one bolt connection
•How to monitor for Pressure and Transient Pressure
•How to listen for leaks in the system

Our workshop facilitator is John Palmer, of Mueller Water Products, Inc. John Palmer is the Canadian Technical Representative for Mueller Canada and has over 30 years of experience in the Municipal Water Industry.
Logistics:
OMWA is pleased to offer any and all staff from our valued OMWA municipal/utility members complimentary virtual On the Job Training through our OMWA online platform. These 1-hour sessions run Thursdays starting at 2:00 pm. The fee for non-members is $30 plus HST per person per session.
