Overview:

This webinar will present latest information regarding Inflow and Infiltration (I/I) in sanitary sewer collection systems. The session will review basic I/I issues and also explore the costs & risks of both the public and private side sources. Our presenter will share information on the latest new concepts, research findings and legislative changes in the field as well as practical tips for participants on how to develop and implement a modern control program to effectively reduce I/I in their collection systems.

At the completion of this one-hour OJT session, participants will be able to demonstrate the following:

•What is I/I and how does it impact risk of flooding in a sewershed
•Differences between private and public side I/I
•What are the costs of I/I
•Why is the reduction of private side I/I essential to a modern I/I program
•What regulatory changes may require a closer focus on I/I in both new and existing sewer systems
•How to develop a modern, efficient, and cost effective I/I reduction program

Barbara Robinson

Our workshop facilitator is Barbara Robinson, President of Norton Engineering, a company that undertakes leading edge research into reducing I&I risk in municipal wastewater collection systems. Barbara has been a Professional Engineer for 30 years, with significant experience focused on sewers and I&I over a long consulting career that has spanned all aspects of municipal infrastructure. Her career includes two years as a City Engineer. Barbara is a speaker, author and media contributor. 

 

Logistics:
OMWA is pleased to offer any and all staff from our valued OMWA municipal/utility members complimentary virtual On the Job Training through our OMWA online platform.  These 1-hour sessions run Thursdays starting at 2:00 pm.  The fee for non-members is $30 plus HST per person per session.
