Session #6: Dude, Where’s My Stormwater Pond?
“Expires Wed Apr 16 2025”
Overview:
Stormwater retention ponds are essential infrastructure for controlling runoff, managing water quality, and preventing flooding in urban environments. However, many of these ponds have lost their original retention capacity due to natural reclamation by vegetation, sedimentation, and other processes. As a result, many facility managers find themselves struggling with stormwater ponds that no longer function as intended. The first critical step toward remediation is accurately understanding the current state of these facilities, but doing so requires a multi-faceted approach.
At the completion of this one-hour OJT session, participants will be able to demonstrate the following:
-
-
-
-
- How stormwater ponds play a vital role in managing run-off during periods of heavy rain and snow melt
- What challenges communities face with their current stormwater infrastructure
- How proper stormwater pond assessments can provide critical maintenance insights
- Why a comprehensive, multi-disciplined approach to stormwater pond assessments provides the most accurate results.
