Overview:
The Vortex Flow Insert (or VFI) is an energy passive (no energy required), environmentally friendly solution for aeration, energy dissipation and corrosion and odour mitigation, thereby allowing for extended asset lifespan and reduced chemical and aeration treatment costs. The session will demonstrate how the Vortex Flow Insert (VFI) works, how and where to use it in both sanitary and storm sewer collection systems, and explain the benefits it provides. Several case studies across North America will be reviewed as part of the presentation, for typical sanitary and storm water collection systems, as well as in treatment facilities.
At the completion of this one-hour OJT session, participants will be able to demonstrate the following:
- How the Vortex Flow Insert works
- Understanding of potential uses of VFIs for aeration, energy dissipation, corrosion, and odour mitigation
- The potential benefits of using VFIs including extended asses lifespan and reduced chemical and aeration treatment costs
- Examples of typical installation in both sanitary and storm water collection systems a well as in treatment facilities
