Dear Valued OMWA Member,
The following is an important update on elevated Cyber Security threats following the OJT session we presented on July 22, 2021.
Potential for Increased Cyber Attacks
The Russian invasion of Ukraine and the condemnation by many governments, including Canada has created an environment of increased cyber attacks. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security encourages Canadian critical infrastructure operators to bolster their awareness of and protection against Russian-backed cyber threat activity. Some intelligence indicates that there likely have been efforts by Russian state-sponsored threat groups to establish access to the networks of Canadian Critical Infrastructure including water.
