Session #4: Eliminating the Wet Well with Direct In-Line Pumping

ON DEMAND RECORDING

Expires Wed Mar 19 2025

Overview:

Universally, submersible pump stations require unclogging and cleaning from a common villain: flushable wipes. With direct in-line pumping system there is now a solution, which eliminates the root cause of this issue: the wet well. We will discuss what causes wet well issues and share case studies including a 320-unit condominium with a grocery store and restaurant that experienced regular pump faults. Building management needed a robust and maintenance-free solution and moved from submersible pumps to a new direct inline pumping system.

By removing the wet well and lifting influent directly from the gravity invert, FOG, wipes, and any other culprits, cannot separate and solidify. Fibrous material remains in solution, ejected as it arrives. Because influent is contained, it cannot become atmospheric, eliminating odor and dangerous gases.  With no wet well, well maintenance is eliminated, no grease buildup on basin walls, nor leaching into adjacent soil or ground water.

At the completion of this one-hour OJT session, participants will be able to demonstrate the following:

          • Understand what wet well issues can be eliminated with direct in-line pumping
          • Identify call for solids passing pumps in wastewater applications
          • Learn more about advanced control options to prevent pump clogging and predict maintenance intervals
