Why You?

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join the InnServices team! As the Utilities Operator – Wastewater, you will be responsible for the general operation and maintenance of the 2 extended aeration type Wastewater Treatment plants and corresponding 110 kilometers of Collection Systems and numerous pumping stations. You will ensure legislative compliance for the protection of public health and safety and the natural environment and will also be responsible for:

  • Completing daily inspections of treatment and collection facilities
  • Monitoring and recording pump rates, flows, generator status and system efficiencies
  • Collecting and submitting samples to appropriate laboratories for analysis, as required by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Environmental Compliance Approval (MECP ECA)
  • Performing maintenance and repairs for, and flushing of, existing sewer mains, laterals, manholes, valves, and other sewer system appurtenances as required
  • Performing utility locates of collection system piping as required by internal/external agencies, in order to avoid damage to existing underground plant or service disruption
  • Acting in the absence of the Operator in Overall Responsibility/Supervisor when requested
  • Mandatory participation in overtime, rotational standby duties and on call response after hours, including weekend work and stat holidays as required

 

We are seeking a dedicated and driven individual who thrives in a collaborative environment, and holds the following:

  • Community college diploma in a related field such as Civil Engineering, Water/Wastewater or Environmental Studies, or equivalent related experience.
  • Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Class III (3) Certification in Waste Water Treatment and MECP Class II (2) Certification Waste Water Collection. Candidates lower-level certifications and relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Preference is for applicants to have a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated work experience in a wastewater collection and treatment environment.
  • First Aid/CPR and Confined Space Entry Certification.
  • A valid Class G driver’s license and reliable vehicle is required, as is the ability to participate in overtime, on-call after hours and weekend work, and to attend evening meetings or other events, if necessary.

 

Pay for position will be per Class Certification System for MECP Certifications in Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection (See below):

OITs: $33.91 per hour

Class I: $38.36 per hour

Class II: $43.08 per hour

Class III (and above): $46.64 per hour

Note: All rates based on a 40-hour week
