Water Quality Compliance / Water Operator
The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Water Quality Compliance / Water Operator.
Reporting to the Manager Water & Wastewater Services, this position will assist in the implementation and development of the Drinking Water Quality Management Standards [DWQMS] for water distribution and is primarily responsible for all issues with respect to compliance reporting as it relates to the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Ontario Water Resources Act, and all associated regulations. The position is also required to perform all duties of the Water Employee as defined in the Water Employee job description.
Qualifications and Requirements
The successful candidate will have a University Degree or College Diploma in Civil or Environmental Technology, along with one (1) to four (4) years progressive experience with drinking water compliance requirements and DWQMS activities. Candidates must have a minimum of a Class 1 Water Distribution License from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation & Parks [MOECP], together with an understanding and experience in water and wastewater utility operations and the principles and practices of water and wastewater utility management. The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge of current applicable provincial local laws, rules and regulations regarding, water distribution and wastewater collection system operation, maintenance, and construction, including but not limited to the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act 2002, and Ontario Water Resources Act.

The Town offers a starting hourly rate of $37.59 (2020), in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.1. This position is subject to a probationary period of sixty (60) days of work.
