Session #8: The Art of Aseptic: Crafting Safe & Smart Samples in the Field & Lab
Expires Wed. May 27, 2026
Overview:
The Art of Aseptic highlights how small, consistent practices make a big impact on sample quality, safety, and data reliability. From the field to the lab, it focuses on practical techniques and control measures that help ensure results truly reflect the sample—not the process.
At the completion of this one-hour OJT session, participants will be able to demonstrate the following:
-
- Why aseptic technique is critical for data integrity, regulatory compliance, and personal safety
- How to apply practical aseptic techniques in the field to reduce contamination at the source
- Key habits that protect both the sample and the sampler, including PPE and hygiene best practices
- How to select and handle appropriate sample containers, including sterility, preservatives, and headspace considerations
- Best practices for sample transportation, including temperature control and preventing cross-contamination
- How aseptic technique is maintained in the lab through environmental monitoring, controls, and quality systems
- How laboratories verify aseptic effectiveness using validation, controls, and ongoing monitoring
- Common pitfalls that can compromise results—and how to avoid rework, delays, and data quality issues
