Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join the Environmental Services Department.



Reporting to the Supervisor Water Distribution, the position involves the operation of a Level III Water Distribution System including rotating On-Call responsibilities.



Essential (minimum) Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a minimum Grade 12.
  • Obtain OIT Certification within 3 months of hire date and obtain Level I Water Distribution Subsystem MECP Certification within 15 months of hire date.
  • Valid Class DZ Driver’s license with safe driving record, to be held and maintained.


Asset (preferred) Qualifications:

  • Level 1 Water Distribution Subsystem MECP Certification.
  • Working knowledge of provincial Safe Drinking Water Act and Associated Regulations.
  • Working Knowledge of Infrastructure and Construction Practices.
  • Working Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act with emphasis on Trenching, Shoring, and Confined Space Entry.
  • Current First Aid, CPR and WHMIS training.
  • Basic computer skills including email, MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Excavating experience.
  • Ability to complete tasks involving heavy pushing, pulling, and lifting on a regular basis; work in an uncontrolled environment / conditions; work in a construction environment, i.e. traffic, uneven ground; recognize hazards and be able to assist in mitigating and controlling hazards.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (at least 50 lbs.).



Essential (minimum) Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction of Water Distribution / Waste Water Collection or Facilities mechanical construction working around excavations and heavy equipment
  • Demonstrated exceptional mechanical aptitude
  • Experience working with hand and power tools


Asset (preferred) Qualifications:

  • General sampling experience for colour, turbidity, chlorine, and bacteriological.
