Utility Person/Meter Reader

Trent Hills is a vibrant and growing community with a population of 13,000 that is located on the Trent Severn Waterway amongst the rolling hills of Northumberland County.


Reporting to the General Manager of Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works Administration and Head Operator, the Utility Person/Meter Reader completes all utility locates for the municipality including water, storm, sanitary and street lighting as well as conducts water sample collection, testing, distribution system operations and maintenance activities. This position is responsible for ongoing water meter maintenance, water meter repairs, replacements, final reads and general meter reading when required.


Preference will be given to candidates who possess a minimum Grade 12 Diploma, one (1) to three (3) years’ experience in a public sector works environment, a Class “D” Driver’s License, Z endorsement, a Water Meter Installer License and Certificate, Water Distribution Class II License, and a Class II Wastewater Collection License.  As well, the candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with others and be able to work independently once the task has been outlined by senior staff.

The pay rate for this existing position is $26.89 – $31.13 per hour together with a competitive and attractive benefit package.
