Full Time Permanent Technician, Walkteron Clean Water Centre

WCWC is seeking a qualified professional in the role of Technician

The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is seeking one (1) full time qualified professional for the following role:

WCWC Research & Technology Institute 

Position:  Technician

Job Classification: Technician 4-5

Salary Range: Band 3 $52,912.55 - $74,121.86 

Purpose of position

This position supports the delivery of the programs of the WCWC Research & Technology Institute (RTI).   The position supports all stages of pilot testing, projects, including proposals, experiments, reports, publications and presentations of results. The position operates and maintains the equipment of the Technology Demonstration Facility/laboratory to ensure that they are functional for pilot testing, technology demonstration and hands-on training. The position supports the Helpline. The position assists in the delivery of hands-on training and may be involved in the development and delivery of selected other courses with prior written approval of the Manager.

The position reports to the Manager of WCWC Research and Technology Institute.

Duties/responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of this position include the following tasks:

1. Support for Pilot Testing

2. Technology Demonstration

3. Helpline

4. Support for training

Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of the RTI Manager.

Knowledge Requirements:

The incumbent requires knowledge of the Centre’s pilot testing and training programs; drinking water treatment principles, methodologies, and practices sufficient to understand the various drinking water treatment and delivery processes, and the requirements of provincial drinking water legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines; the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002 and its regulations; operating drinking water process units at full or pilot scale; drinking water sample collection and analysis.

The incumbent requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. Good information researching, organizational and analytical skills are required. Good communications skills are also necessary.

Job requirements

The incumbent requires experience in operating drinking water process units at full or pilot scale and/or experience working in a drinking water laboratory. A college diploma or university degree specializing in water treatment is required.

A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
